Foley Interns Rock

We lucked out on some pretty awesome summer interns this year. Emily in landplanning, Elizabeth in Interiors, & Savanna in Architecture have been such great additions to the Foley Family. They have great attitudes, work ethic, and really have been contributing to the success of each department. We wanted to highlight them to not only thank them but to get a little glimpse into their unique personalities. Enjoy!

EMILY;

How do you describe yourself?

- I would describe myself as hardworking, determined, and ambitious. I’m always looking forward to the next adventure life takes me on and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me.

What have you done thus far for the firm? How long are you working with us for?

- So far, I’ve assisted in the Land Planning department with all things necessary to complete the many ongoing projects that we have right now. I’m only here for the summer but hopefully if all goes well I might see myself as a full time Foley Design team member next spring!

Are you still in school? What school? When will you graduate?

- I am currently attending Mississippi State University for a dual degree in Landscape Architecture and Landscape Contracting and will be starting my senior year in August. I graduate next May!

What’s your favorite movie quote?

- “We are Groot.”

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

- Wine Red. Very unique, very strong and very easily stands out.

ELIZABETH;

How do you describe yourself?

- INFP :) Quiet until you get to know me… but once you get to know me I am fun loving, joyful, hard-working, creative and a passionate 23 year old who likes to have a good time! I also am obsessed with cats.

What have you done for the firm thus far/how long are you working here?

- I have done a variety of things! I’ve created floor finish plans, schedules, and elevations for cd’s in Revit and AutoCAD; helped finalize and decorate the model units at Cobblestone; order/sort through most of the materials in the library; attended several furniture and textile showrooms; written purchase orders/worked on overall budgets for projects. I will be here a total of 10 weeks! Early-mid August.

Are you still in school?

-Technically yes, but I “graduated” (they let us walk with our college at the ceremony) back in early May with my class. Mississippi State University- go bulldogs! I don’t officially receive my degree until I complete a ten week internship and go back to school for my internship presentation.

Favorite movie quote?

- First thing that came to mind… “Ladies don’t start fights, but they can finish them!” – Marie from the Aristocats

New addition to the crayon box, what color would you be and why?

- Macaroni and cheese, because it’s super unique and fun… plus it’s the color of my hair!

SAVANNA;

How do you describe yourself?

- I am a laid-back, but easily excitable person (especially when Miles is here).

What have you done thus far for the firm? How long are you working with us for?

- I have had my hand in a few projects so far, but have been primarily working on one where I have been making modifications to plans, building components, sheets, and other changes as necessary. I have also done calculations for building code and energy efficiency. I am working for the summer, but I would love to try to stay on board when the semester starts back if I am able to.

Are you still in school? What school? When will you graduate?

- I am currently a student at Georgia Tech, and I will be graduating in May of 2019.

What’s your favorite movie quote?

- “I don’t cook! I’m a scary and powerful fire demon!” – Calcifer, Howl’s Moving Castle

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

- I would be a light leafy green because it is a pleasant natural color that brightens people’s day.
